Gabriela Lena Frank – Four Folk Songs
Maurice Ravel – Violin Sonata
Johannes Brahms – String Sextet in B-flat Major, Op. 18
Gabriela Lena Frank’s Four Folk Songs for violin, cello, and piano brings the vibrant melodies and rhythmic vitality of Peru to life in a piano trio. In celebration of Maurice Ravel’s 150th birthday, his Violin Sonata takes center stage, blending classical form with the raw energy of jazz and the charm of Spanish folk music. The evening concludes with Brahms’ String Sextet in B-flat Major, Op. 18, a work brimming with sweeping melodies and lush harmonies—Brahms at his most lyrical, radiant, and expressive and a crown jewel of the chamber music repertoire.
