Discovering How Kids Learn Math
The 桃子直播鈥檚 Julie Sarama and Douglas Clements of the Morgridge College of Education have launched a project that promises to put 鈥渂ajillions鈥 of online resources at the fingertips of early childhood mathematics teachers. Bajillions, a fun, child-friendly word for a non-existent big number, is the name of the innovative, interactive system of learning tools Clements and Sarama are developing as part of the three-year project.

Collaborating on Sustainability and Well-Being
桃子直播 is part of a multi-university research project aimed at developing, building and launching a public-facing platform to share health, well-being and sustainability data across Colorado. Made possible by a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation, the collaborative effort brings together researchers from the 桃子直播, Metropolitan State 桃子直播, the University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University and CSU-Pueblo to create a centralized hub of data and insights from past and ongoing research projects.

Committing to our Community
In early January, the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching announced that 桃子直播 had successfully earned re-classification for community engagement. The elective designation is the leading standard for assessing a university鈥檚 commitment to community engagement. Something to be proud of at 桃子直播 is that this kind of community-engaged research, teaching and creative work shows up all across the university,鈥 says Anne DePrince, associate vice provost for public good strategy and research.

Reshaping our Knowledge of Neurons
When neurons lose their shape, impaired brain function or neurodegeneration can result. Ann Wehman, Assistant Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biophysics at the 桃子直播鈥檚 College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, has begun looking into how the shape of neurons is maintained in adults 鈥 and her research has implications for brain health and improving efficiency of pharmaceuticals.
